Ward House

Garden Planning

The last few days have been interesting.  Lots of blog reading and activity.  Some interesting places to visit:

After reading about the seeds and cottage industry childrens toys/clothing dilema, I feel like an ostrich.  How do things like this occur without my hearing about it until after the fact?  I realize that mainstream media is not going to publish these types of stories so how can I stay in the loop?

  1. We must have been visiting some of the same sites! I just learned about the toy industry law too. In theory, it’s great we don’t have to be so afraid of the mass-produced stuff (ha ha!), but all those cottage toy/childrens products makers are going to be hurt. How simple would it have been to just create a small business clause or make the burden of proof being on the manufactures of the unnaturalish igredients (e.g. paint, synthetic or natural cloth, etc.)

I’ve wonder the same about “the loop”. I seem to learn there things by chance onto the right blogs!

  2. Thank you for visiting! It appears that lawmakers do not think far enough ahead to forsee problems that may affect cottage industry owners – either they are uncapable or are paid to look the other way. Regardless, wish I would hear about these before it happens. If you find a reliable news source, please let me know!
