Seed Potatoes – when to plant

This has been an eventful weekend and I will post more about that later.  My question is, for a zone 5-6, when to plant seed potatoes.  Amazingly, just to google the question, brings no answers.  If there is a website with some of this info, that would be fab!

More to come. . .   =)

New Note: when Googling for answers it is important to look at how one is asking the question.  That is true for life outside of Google as well.  When I changed how the question was phrased, a slew of answers appeared.  The most helpful was from Mother Earth News.  Our last frost happens about Mother’s Day.  I do not believe this is what the calendars/maps say, it is how the locals plant so I am following their lead (they have been correct every year since I’ve been here).  In light of that information and this article, I need to wait until April to plant seed potatoes.  Woo Hoo!  Perseverance paid off!

Oh, and yesterday we went to town and I ended up at Barnes & Noble where I found some amazing books – will post that in a few.  =)

Zone 5 plants potatoes mid march, as soon as the ground is workable. 9though it has been mild here) Mulch well my dear.

  4. Hi Annette , Mother Earth News is wonderful for finding info , but Emphelan’s advice sounds better. Potatoes are pretty hardy.

Thanks for the award , I feel honored.
