Dabump

Tea tree oil? Yes, this is a wonder oil. I love the look of a nose piercing and twice I’ve had the same nostril done (over the last two years) only to allow it to close 6+ months later due to ‘the bump’. This bump does not appear right away but waits 30 days to make it’s presence known; it appears to be a keloid. From my view in the mirror, it looks like a pimple, from the side it is red and raised. To date I have followed the piercers instructions to a ‘T’ and wonder what has gone wrong.

Surfing the web for a solution, I found this site; the author speaks of the same bump I am experiencing and how straight tea tree oil helped her bump to disappear in three days. Numerous other commenters note the same success. Ok, I’ve got three days. Beginning today (7/1/09), lets see what happens!

7/13/2009: Well, da bump is gone! *hears the crowd cheering* For me it took a few more than three days and that is ok – I am so happy that it worked! Cleaned it with the saline spray the peircer gives you and then using a paper towel, applied the tea tree oil (pharmacuetical strength). A word of caution about using essential oils neat (without dilution) – always do your research and make sure what you have is safe to use.

Just had to post my celebration!

  1. Annette, Thanks so much for stopping by my blog.I used to use tea tree oil a lot. Love the stuff, although I haven't really needed it lately. Glad it helped!

  2. Pics pretty please? I would love to see it. I let mine go after my husband thought it wasn't a good idea and I've missed it ever since. I'm thinking of having it done again. My contact info is on the blog if you'd rather show in private. If I had my druthers I'd also get my tongue done and a snug (?) on both ears. So I'm doing some serious piercing pondering…

  6. Meadowlark, two nose piercings? One in each nostril?

  7. a stud in the "crease" (for want of a better term) and a hoop on the same side, just a smidgen ahead.

  8. I love that look. My stud is between the crease and end of my nose. It is supposed to be a 'white diamond' though there is nothing sparkley about it. It is titanium as I was concerned about rejection – Silver posts drive my ears crazy! I'd like to find something a bit smaller that my nose will not be red over.
